Meaning

Jia, fixed firmly on both side; ji, vertebral column. The points are respectively on both sides of vertebral column.

There are 17 points on each side. It seemed that these points might fix the vertebra in the middle from both sides, so the points were named "Jiaji".

Location

On the back and lower back, 0.5 cun lateral to the lower border of each spinous process from the first thoracic vertebra to the fifth lumbar vertebra. One side has 17 points, both sides of the spinal column have a total of 34 points.

Indication

  • 1.The points on the upper portion of the thorax are used to treat diseases of the throat, heart, lung, and upper extremities.
  • 2.The points on the lower portion of the thorax are used to treat diseases of the liver, gallbladder, spleen and stomach.
  • 3.The points on the lumbar region are used to treat diseases of the urogenital system, the intestinal tract, the lumbosacral region and lower extremities.

Method

Perpendicular insertion 0.3-0.5 cun, or use plum blossom needle for tapping.
