The drug is the dried whole herb of Halerpestes sarmentosa (Adans.)Kom. Family Ranunculaceae),growing in marshes, on swampy lands along lakes or creeks, and distributed in Northeast China, North China, Northwest China and Shandong, Sichuan and Tibet.

Actions
The herb is used as diuretic, antioncotic, anti rheumatic and damp drying agent, for the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism and edema.
Dosage and Administrations
Decoct 15~30 g. Proper dosage is for external application, pounded into juice for applying or decocted for washing.
