TE5

Waiguan(TE5,外关) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian of Hand. It is the Luo-Connecting Point of the Sanjiao.

Meaning

Wai, lateral; guan, pass.
The point is at the vital site on the lateral aspect of the forearm, like a pass.

Location

2 cun above the transverse dorsal crease of the wrist, between the ulna and radius.

Indication

  1. Shaoyang headache (migraine).
  2. cold and fever.
  3. redness and swelling of the eye, tinnitus and deafness.
  4. numbness of the upper extremities.

Method

Perpendicularly 0.8-1 cun.
